New Beginnings
Lot 61:
Description
This hand-carved hardstone figurine depicts a parrot, likely a macaw, in a forward-leaning pose. The bird is sculpted from green quartz or aventurine, featuring incised detailing on the wings and tail to represent feathers. The head is constructed with a yellow stone facial patch, inset dark bead eyes, and a two-part translucent beak made of chalcedony. The bird is mounted via textured metal feet to a natural amethyst druzy crystal cluster on a dark stone matrix. This piece is characteristic of Brazilian lapidary art, which frequently utilizes regional semi-precious minerals.
Dimensions: 10 X 6 X 5 inch.
Condition report:
The figurine is in very good condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or professional repairs to the stone components. All inset elements, including the eyes and beak, are securely attached. The metal feet are firmly mounted to both the bird and the amethyst base.
