Description

This is an elongated, slender brass vase of Indian origin, specifically following the decorative traditions of the Moradabad region. The vessel features a bulbous mid-section that tapers into a long, ringed neck topped with a flared rim, all supported by a flared circular foot. This form is characteristic of a surahi vessel. The exterior surface is decorated with dense, hand-engraved stylized floral and foliate motifs. These recessed areas are filled with polychrome lacquer or enamel in a palette of brick red, mustard yellow, and cream, set against a dark, chemically patinated ground. The brass construction exhibits a dark, aged patina throughout. No maker marks or signatures are visible.

Dimensions: 4 x 5 x 20 inch.

Condition report:

The vase is in good vintage condition. The brass displays a dark, uniform patina consistent with age. There is minor surface wear and small areas of loss to the enamel decoration. No significant dents, scratches, or structural repairs are visible.
