Description
An American folk art carved and painted wood relief plaque titled The Chimney Fire by artist Richard Olson. The central composition features a multi-story house constructed with blue and red painted wood elements, with orange flames and coiled wire smoke emanating from the chimney. A horse-drawn fire engine with a driver and red-wheeled carriage is depicted in relief on a yellow cobblestone path. The work incorporates mixed media elements, including lace inserts in the windows and small turned wood spindles on the house and frame. The scene is contained within an architectural mustard-yellow frame characterized by a triple-arched top, spindle finials, and fluted side columns. A decorative banner on the right side is inscribed with the title The Chimney Fire. The reverse of the plaque bears the signature R. Olson in black ink.

Condition report:
The plaque is in good overall condition, exhibiting minor surface wear and small scattered paint losses consistent with age and material. Light dust accumulation is present within the recessed relief carvings and mixed media components.
