Description
This mid-to-late 20th-century oil painting on canvas depicts a coastal seascape at sunset. The composition features waves crashing against a rocky shoreline with a small white lighthouse situated on a dark cliff to the right. Several seagulls are depicted in flight above the water. The artist utilized a combination of techniques, including smooth blending in the sky and background and heavy impasto to create texture in the white sea foam and cresting waves. The work is signed – Dawson in cursive script in the lower right corner. The painting is presented unframed on a standard wooden stretcher. The reverse of the canvas shows some light staining but lacks any gallery labels or stamps.

Condition report:
The painting is in good overall condition. The canvas remains taut on the stretcher. There is no significant craquelure, paint loss, or heavy surface dirt observed. Light staining is present on the verso of the canvas.
