New Beginnings
Lot 85:
Description
A rectangular cut glass desk tray designed as an inkstand base, featuring a long recessed compartment for pens and two square recesses for inkwell bottles. A central decorative square between the inkwell positions is cut with a dense, multi-tiered diamond-point pattern. The tray includes two integrated handles at the ends with matching diamond-point facets. The exterior rim is finished with a continuous notched mitre-cut border. The material is high-clarity crystal with deep, precise geometric cutting consistent with late 19th or early 20th-century craftsmanship, such as American Brilliant Period production. No etched maker marks or signatures are visible. A small fragment of adhesive residue is present on the upper rim.
Dimensions: 10 X 5.5 X 2 inch.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. There is minor surface residue and a small adhesive remnant on the rim, along with a small brownish stain in one of the square compartments on the underside.
