Description
This Art Nouveau style ceramic figurine was produced by the Zsolnay factory in Hungary. The piece features a central seated child or putto figure flanked by two shell-like bowl forms, likely intended for use as a double salt cellar or trinket dish. The entire figurine is finished in a metallic iridescent eosin glaze, displaying a spectrum of green, gold, and reddish-purple tones. The base of the item contains several markings: the model number 8233 is incised at the top, the letter E is incised at the bottom center, and a rectangular stamp reading MADE IN HUNGARY is located in the lower right corner. The underside of the base shows a deep reddish-purple iridescent finish.
Dimensions: 7 X 5.5 X 3.5 inch.
Condition report:
The figurine is in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is minor shelf wear on the underside of the base consistent with age. The iridescent glaze is well-preserved and retains its original luster.
