Description
A Japanese porcelain ginger jar of ovoid form with a short circular collar, missing its lid. The vessel features overglaze enamel decoration on a white ground. The central scene depicts a kingfisher perched on a large green lotus leaf beside a blooming pink lotus flower and other aquatic plants. The shoulder is decorated with four alternating panels framed by iron-red scrollwork borders: two containing a green and yellow diaper lattice pattern with small orange blossoms, and two depicting birds and foliage. The base bears the red characters 美術 (Bijutsu) and the black characters 伊萬里 (Imari), accompanied by the English text IMARI WARE JAPAN. This combination of marks is characteristic of Japanese export porcelain produced in the mid-to-late 20th century.

Condition report:
The item is missing its original lid. The porcelain body and enamel decoration are in good condition with no chips, cracks, or visible repairs. Minor shelf wear is present on the unglazed foot rim, and there is a small amount of adhesive residue on the base.
