Both pieces are decorated in the Blue Onion (Zwiebelmuster) pattern, featuring underglaze blue hand-painted stylized floral and foliate motifs on a white ground. The forms are characterized by deeply lobed, scalloped rims that create a petal-like appearance. The cup is fitted with a scrolled porcelain handle. Markings on the base of the saucer include the Meissen underglaze blue crossed swords mark and an impressed number 2. The base of the cup shows faint blue markings.
Dimensions: 5.5 X 5 X 2.5 inch.
Condition report:
Both pieces exhibit minor wear consistent with age and use. The saucer has several small chips, or flea bites, along its delicate scalloped rim. Both the cup and saucer show minor shelf wear and discoloration on their unglazed foot rings. No cracks or signs of professional restoration are visible.
