Description
This oil painting on canvas is signed Romeo Busso in the lower right corner. The work depicts an indigenous woman and child in traditional attire, standing before a doorway in a style characteristic of mid-20th-century Mexican Indigenismo. The subjects are shown in white garments with vibrant embroidery, each carrying a colorful woven morral bag. The artist used smooth, deliberate brushwork to capture the textures of the textiles and the weathered, cracked surface of the adobe wall in the background. The painting is housed in a period-appropriate rustic wood frame featuring an inset burlap liner.
