Description

A pair of hardcover books from the Ocean Liners of the Past series, edited by Mark D. Warren and published by Patrick Stephens Limited. The first volume is a facsimile reprint of the rare 1907 commemorative edition of Engineering magazine, documenting the construction and launch of the Cunard turbine-driven quadruple-screw Atlantic liner Mauretania. It includes original technical data, plans, and additional unpublished photographs selected by the editor. The second volume, titled The Second Mauretania 1939-65, is a facsimile reprint of the 1939 commemorative edition of The Shipbuilder and Marine Engine-builder. This volume focuses on the Cunard White Star passenger steamship and contains technical specifications, a blueprint plan, and interior color plates reproduced on the rear cover. Both volumes are bound in publisher cloth with illustrated dust jackets.

Each volume measures approximately 12 inches by 9 inches.

Condition report:

Both volumes are in very good condition. The dust jackets are present and unclipped, showing only minor shelf wear and light rubbing at the extremities. The Second Mauretania volume shows very slight edge wear to the bottom of the dust jacket. Bindings remain tight and the internal pages are clean and free of inscriptions or markings.
