Description
An antique campaign-style flatware canteen constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. The exterior features brass-mounted corners and a central brass nameplate inset into the lid, engraved in cursive script with the name James Peate. The chest is designed with a mitered top panel and two front drawers. The drawers are fitted with recessed brass ring pulls. A brass-trimmed keyhole escutcheon is located on the front of the main body. The interior of the lid, main compartment, and both drawers are lined with a gold-toned gathered fabric, featuring individual slots intended for a set of flatware.
Dimensions: 22 X 17 X 12 inch.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of age and use, including surface scratches and wear to the wood finish. The brass hardware exhibits tarnishing. One recessed brass ring pull is missing from the bottom right drawer. The interior fabric lining shows some bunching and wear.
