Description
This work is an oil painting on canvas after the original composition by English artist George Chambers, depicting The Capture of Puerto Bello. The scene illustrates a grand naval battle with multiple men-of-war engaged in combat, characterized by billowing clouds of white and dark smoke from cannon fire. The setting includes a mountainous coastline and a prominent stone fortress to the left. The lower left corner of the work bears the printed inscription Chambers 1838. The canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher and is presented in a simple gilt wood liner surrounded by a wide, light-colored textured frame. The verso of the canvas features a manufacturer stamp in the lower left corner that reads: Produced at MASTERPIECE from Antonio, Tex Studio, indicating a mid-20th-century commercial production.

Condition report:
The item is in good condition with some light surface dirt and minor spots on the front. The reverse of the canvas shows mild discoloration and foxing. No significant craquelure or paint loss is evident.
