Description
This porcelain figurine depicts a seated laughing Buddha, identified as Lladro model number 8566. The figure, also known as Hotei or Budai, is rendered in a traditional pose with an exposed belly, a wide joyful expression, and elongated earlobes. The piece features hand-painted overglaze enamel decoration in a polychrome palette. He wears an open yellow robe adorned with pink floral sprays and blue circular shou medallions, signifying longevity. His trousers are finished in a pink glaze with various floral and foliate motifs. The base is unglazed and features a central circular ventilation hole.
Dimensions: 6 x 5 x 4 inches.
Condition report:
The figurine is in excellent condition. A visual inspection shows no chips, cracks, or evidence of professional repair to the delicate edges of the veil or the extremities. There is minor surface shelf wear and light soiling on the unglazed foot rim of the base.
